I recently came across Henry Normal and I was genuinely surprised by the range of work he has been involved in. He co-wrote The Royle Family and Mrs Merton, and worked on all those Steve Coogan projects like the Paul and Pauline Calf Video Diaries and Coogan's Run. He also founded Baby Cow Productions, which produced shows like Gavin and Stacey, The Mighty Boosh, Red Dwarf, and Alan Partridge. Since retiring from Baby Cow, he has written and performed seven BBC Radio 4 shows about his family and bringing up his autistic son, which sound really intimate and thoughtful. He also has ten poetry collections and a memoir. He has even had a beer and a bus named after him in Nottingham.
