The first time I noticed something was wrong, I was dusting my bookshelf and realised the spines of my favourite hardbacks had turned from deep navy to a washed-out grey. My Edinburgh flat gets direct sunlight for most of the afternoon, and I'd been slowly watching my belongings fade without really registering the damage. My oak flooring had lightened in patches, my velvet sofa had lost its richness on one side, and even my own skin felt more exposed than it should indoors. I tried closing the curtains, but it turned my bright, cheerful home into a gloomy space I didn't want to spend time in. Then a friend who works in a gallery mentioned they use specialist UV film to protect valuable artwork, and I realised I could do the same for my own space. I started researching and landed on https://www.tintfit.com/shop/uv-protection. I ordered a roll of the museum-grade film, and installation was surprisingly simple – soapy water, a squeegee, and about twenty minutes of my time. The film is practically invisible, so my flat still floods with beautiful light, but the damaging rays are gone. No more fading, no more harsh glare, and the room feels noticeably cooler. It's one of those small changes that makes a massive difference to everyday life.
