When selecting plastic covers for greenhouses, you’ll typically encounter three main types of plastic: standard polyethylene (PE) film, UV‑stabilised polyethylene, and infrared (IR) or multi‑layer films. The standard PE film is the most cost‑effective, ideal for shorter‑term use but less durable. UV‑stabilised films resist sunlight degradation and therefore last longer under harsh conditions. The IR or multi‑layer type combines heat‑retaining additives, anti‑fog/anti‑drip treatments, and stronger layers—offering better insulation and longer lifespan. Choosing the right type depends on your climate, desired durability and crop‑specific needs.
