A small bedroom ceiling design should be open and airy, but not too heavy. A light colored finish, recessed lighting, narrow false ceiling borders and minimal cove lighting can help to make the ceiling seem higher. Don't use layers or dark colors because they might make the space appear small. Simple geometric details can also inform and add character without creating a cluttered or unbalanced image.
