Heat exhaustion and heat stroke in some dogs

In the case of heat stroke, it is important to note that intensive physical activity is not the only factor that may lead to this condition. Despite the fact that even a brief stroll along the beach may induce heat exhaustion and heat stroke in some dogs, other situations, such as sitting in a parked vehicle with the windows down, can still cause certain dogs to overheat in a short amount of time. The simple act of resting outdoors in the shade for an extended period of time on a hot and humid day, or even simply going for a short stroll around the neighborhood, may induce heat exhaustion in some dogs. This, in turn, can produce anxiety, which can ultimately lead to severe respiratory distress and heat stroke. Older dogs who suffer from even a moderate laryngeal paralysis, as well as our brachycephalic (flat-faced) companions, such as pugs, bulldogs (both English and French), and Boston Terriers, to mention a few, are the group of canine companions that are most likely to experience the occurrences that have been described above. It is in your best interest to seek emergency veterinarian treatment as soon as possible if you are afraid that your pet may be suffering from heat exhaustion. geometry dash subzero
