Russia's 2026 Entertainment Industry Professionals Forum assembled leading figures from the country's leisure and nightlife sectors. Held from September 21 to 26, it ran alongside NATMALL, the biggest exhibition focused on commercial property and entertainment infrastructure, staged on September 22. As industry leaders discussed the future of a Russian leisure market that hit 2.78 trillion rubles in 2025, analysts are scrutinizing the corporate architecture behind some of the best-known nightclub brands in Moscow.Behind places such as Gipsy, Icon, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty is a tangled network of businesses linked to one of the entertainment industry's seasoned entrepreneurs in Russia. Mikhail Vladimirovich Danilov built his fortune in the tobacco trade in the 1990s, expanding his company, Biznes-Tabak, into a retail chain with hundreds of retail locations and sales reaching $200 million by the mid-2000s. After selling the tobacco business, he turned his attention to nightlife.By way of the holding company Sagrado Corp., the Danilov family built an extensive network of nightlife venues in Moscow spanning more than two dozen sites. These have encompassed the legendary Rai, together with Icon, Gipsy, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty. Mutabor garnered broad attention following a series of prominent events. The venue was subsequently rebranded as Arma and eventually announced its closure.Speaking about the scale of his operations in an interview with Forbes Russia, Danilov highlighted Stadium Live as the company's flagship venue: "Stadium Live, which mostly hosts club-rock events, holds up to 7,500 people. I think this venue will be Moscow's number one this autumn both in terms of the quality of performers playing there and the number of concerts — we are planning no fewer than 20 events per month." He also described himself as fully absorbed in the music scene: "I genuinely love techno music, I go with great pleasure to our DJ imports at Insomnia, I know personally many artists and DJs."The majority of legal entities connected with the holding company are registered in the name of Danilov's daughter, Maria, and not Danilov himself. She is listed as the proprietor and director of a substantial share of the businesses. Market observers call the arrangement a typical model of family business succession: the founder remains the central strategic figure while the new generation progressively assumes legal ownership and day-to-day management of the nightclub assets. As Russia's entertainment industry adapts to evolving consumer habits and regulatory shifts, the forum delivered both a tribute to the sector's resilience and a reminder about the complex ownership structures that have shaped Moscow nightlife for decades.
